Job Posting: Administrator

Are you a gifted administrator who would like to contribute to an innovative environmental nonprofit? Our wonderful administrator is going on maternity leave, and we're looking for someone equally wonderful for a one year position.
 
We are seeking a talented, positive, friendly, and innovative administrator to help us manage our preschool and elementary programs. 

Location: Telecommuting, with attendance at occasional meetings and information sessions in North Vancouver and Vancouver, BC.

 

Wage: $20.00 per hour + 12% in lieu of benefits

 
About You: 
  • You love being the hub of a growing program. You are equally comfortable entering data, speaking with parents, organizing events, taking minutes, and setting up new administrative systems. 

  • You are dedicated to continuous improvement and have a knack for connecting the dots for people. One of your superpowers is being able to anticipate needs.

  • You can juggle priorities within a weekly, monthly, and annual schedule and anticipate program needs. You're able to manage multiple projects and tasks with minimal supervision.

  • You have excellent written and oral communication skills. You're articulate, flexible, and firm. You communicate well with diverse groups and quirky personalities. 

  • You have a minimum of 2-3 years of experience managing projects and events.

  • You have the flexibility to add work hours at busy times of the year, such as registration time and the beginning of the school year, and you don't mind a little quiet time during the holidays.

  • You're very computer savvy and comfortable with Mailchimp, Wix, Survey Monkey, Salesforce, and Quickbooks, 

  • You have a passion for and interest in environmental education and nature. 

 

General Responsibilities: 
  • Manage program registration and turnover for programs for approximately 130 children

  • Develop and manage program registration and feedback forms.

  • Coordinate parent information and orientation events 

  • Be the first point of contact for parents, teachers, and community volunteers 

  • Maintain our infrastructure and make it easy to use and easy for people to understand

  • Keep our website up to date 

  • Prepare for staff and board meetings and take minutes as required 

  • In collaboration with our bookkeeper, keep financial records and manage banking including bill payments 

  • Set up new administrative systems for use by staff, parents, and program participants 

  • Willing and able to take on other responsibilities and projects as required.

 

Time Commitment: 

This is a one year maternity leave position.

  • 16 hours a week beginning June.

  • Training hours of 8 hours a week from June 6th-17th.

  • Hours vary from 10-25 hours per week depending on the time of the year and are paid at a consistent 16 hours per week.

  • Ideally, you are available online and by phone Monday-Thursday morning with some flexibility regarding your hours and days.
