Fall Friendships

December 18, 2017

As Fall draws to an end and we say goodbye to the leaves on the trees, it is a good time to reflect on all the wonderful friendships that have blossomed this term through all our fun and adventure together. This term the children have had many new firsts to navigate, the most important of which are all the brand new relationships. They have met with other children that share their love and enthusiasm for being outside, whilst engaging with many different and amazing adults who also share their love of nature. I must say the children have taken all this in their stride and we have seen some strong friendships form and the groups are gelling quite well.

The collective imaginations of the children have led to some forest inspired games and role play.  The children really use these games and inspirations to get to know each other and figure out how to play together.

The children have really started to connect with the play spaces and have gotten very creative with the loose parts the forest provides. Loose parts are an ever changing material from day to day. From see saw or kitchen to work station or fort and many more endless ideas the children create.

Ropes can be an endless source of fun and adventure. From spider webs and forest swings to climbing mountains and learning useful knots. This year I think every group has requested ropes every single day.

One afternoon group had a very keen interest in mushrooms and we took the opportunity to grow some. We started them in the forest then continued to grow them in the warmth of my home. When they were ready to harvest we did so and then Aja dehydrated them. When the weather was finally dry we took the time to cook them in the forest during snack time, what a treat!

Hope you all have a wonderful Winter break and here's looking forward to 2018 and all the wonders and adventure the forest will inspire.
