Welcome!
Does your child love to play outdoors?
We believe that children should have a lot of time to play and learn outdoors. Inspired by the movement toward outdoor learning that created the Forest Kindergartens of Europe, we’ve created a forest and farm learning program for young children in the Vancouver area. Your child will explore nature in one of the most beautiful places in the world.
Exciting News – Summer Program Scheduled!
We will be running two summer camp programs, one from June 26 – July 5th 2012 and the second from August 14 – 23rd 2012. This program will be for children between the ages of 3 and 6. Limited spaces may still be available. For all the details click here!
Who we are:
We are a group of parents and teachers who are passionate about playing outside. We are inspired to grow happy, healthy children who care about the places where they live. We believe that children should have ample time to play and learn from nature.
What we do:
The Fresh Air Learning Society runs a non-profit outdoor learning program for children ages 4 to 6. We meet, we play, and we learn, both on the farm and in the forest. Our curriculum involves hands-on nature activities, hiking, free play, stories, songs, and crafts.
Why forest and farm education?
Children are curious and excited about nature, but they often play and learn indoors. We believe that young children should have an opportunity to spend a lot of time enjoying being outside, learning about animals, watching plants grow, and experiencing life outside. A natural learning environment increases positive social behaviour and reduces stress. We hope that as adults, these children will look back on their forest experiences with joy and a sense of calm and connection.
