AGES 11-15

Forest and nature school programs are a way for teens to connect with the Land within a positive, attachment-oriented community setting. Learn in a hands-on and experiential way in these place-based classes.

Our programs for ages 11-15 are co-created by teens and facilitators, incorporating project-based learning about local ecology, more in depth hands-on projects, and lots of time to connect with each other. We have a flexible flow of the day that allows us to adapt to the needs of the group, and we make sure that we have plenty of time for movement.

AGES 11-15

Our programs for ages 11-15 provide students with a nature-based learning opportunity in forest, garden, and community settings. Learning takes place one or two days a week in mixed-aged groups. Grounded in connection to place and community, these programs are emergent, playful, and built on collaboration with each other and the more-than-human world. We strive to honour and foster each child's emotional growth, attachment, and interests, working with the youth in our classes to co-create learning opportunities. Many of our activities focus on interdisciplinary project-based learning through naturalist skills, land stewardship, eco arts and traditional crafts, and community-building field trips and guest presenters. Families combine our program with their own school, home, and community-based learning.

Young people ages 13-15 are also encouraged to apply for our summer camp volunteer program.

Payment Policies & Information

Programs run September to June.
Each registration requires a one-time $35 non-refundable membership*. Membership fees fund our scholarship and bursary program.
First month's fees due upon registration. These are nonrefundable.
We require 4 weeks' notice should you decide to withdraw. Remaining fees returned or canceled.
After January, fees are non-refundable, unless we can fill the space.
We accept homelearning (OL) funds and autism funding. Contact info@freshairlearning.org
Payments up to 30 days late will be assessed a 10% administration fee.
Payments more than 30 days late will be assessed a 25% administration fee.
Spots vacant after a month will be filled.

Sick Policies:

All programs: there are no credits or refunds for classes missed due to illness.
